This 13-Year-Old Kid Is Already Faster Than You
This 13-Year-Old Kid Is Already Faster Than You-December 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:27

When you were 13, were you winning your class in global time attack from behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo race car? No. You were not, because you are not Steven Aghakhani.

Global Time Attack ran at Buttonwillow in SoCal this weekend, where young Aghakhani just kicked, uh, butt. (I should try to keep my language PG-13 in case he reads this.)

Aghakhani wanted to win the event overall, but came up three tenths of a second shy with a still impossibly impressive 01:41:612 lap.

I will remind you now that the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo race car is a 620 horsepower rear-wheel drive beast, with a six-speed sequential transmission and a great deal of what I can only assume are very expensive to replace carbon fiber aerodynamic devices that one must learn to trust against your instincts that they will, by grace of physics, hold the car to the track at speeds beyond your rational expectations. These are cars most people are barely even qualified to operate, let alone wheel around a race track faster than other professional drivers in attendance.

If you’re curious as to why 13-year-old Steven Aghakhani is racing Global Time Attack, it’s because he’s not yet old enough to run the Lamborghini Super Trofeo wheel-to-wheel racing series. Also his dad is a gazillionaire with at least one Bugatti Veyron, and he let him sit in a Lamborghini at Pikes Peak last year and got his kid hooked on racing Lambos.

What a beast.

Correction: This post has been updated to give Aghakhani’s correct lap time.
