This Is The Craziest Rally Stage I've Ever Seen
This Is The Craziest Rally Stage I've Ever Seen-October 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:48

China has some of the most brutal rallies in existence, and it's not hard to see why. A lot of it has to do with the rough roads they run on. Here's a constantly twisty road that straddles drop-offs on both sides. Consequences for turning the wrong way are pretty high.

This particular video comes from inside Rifat Sungkar's Subaru Impreza WRX STi at the Asia Pacific Rally Championship's 2008 rally in China, and it looks a bit more difficult than usual just to stay on the road. Few opportunities are given to just open the car up and blast in a straight line here. It's all a constant set of squiggles.

It's almost as if the co-driver was expecting a wrong turn at some point. That's about the most calm way I've ever heard anyone deal with falling down an exposed cliff.

Luckily, everyone in the car seems okay, although I'd bet the front end of the car needed some pulling out and drying off.
