Watch A Lotus Elise Squeeze Through Every Possible Tiny Gap At Bathurst
Watch A Lotus Elise Squeeze Through Every Possible Tiny Gap At Bathurst-May 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:45

The good thing about the Lotus Elise is that they're small. Delightfully small. So small that you can just cram your way to the front as Dean Evans does in this clip. Evans starts somewhere near the back, but does that matter? Nope.

Welcome to , a feature where we spend that pesky time between race weekends looking at awesome footage from inside the car.

This clip comes from the Lotus Trophy back in 2005, but it's still just as awesome today as it ever was. The Lotus Trophy is at Bathurst's Mount Panorama Circuit, a notoriously circuit in Australia. You're not just trying to avoid the other cars on track—you also need to avoid the hard walls that line much of the track, too.

The Bathurst 12 Hour with its record twenty safety cars would like to remind us all: Mount Panorama

Any miscalculated gap or pass could be the end of your day, especially in a shorter sprint race.

Evans doesn't underestimate the size of the openings here, though. Nope, he just goes for it, and it works. This man has mastered the art of passing.

Nobody Asked For An Eight-Part Docuseries On Bernie Ecclestone, But We're Getting One Anyway
Formula 1 has made legitimate strides in growing its audience during the Liberty Media era. Chalk it up to a combination of actual marketing to people other than rich white dudes; captivating, accessible programming like Netflix’s Drive To Survive; and the embrace of digital platforms and social media. Things...

Dallara's Track-Only EXP Is A Lap Time Bargain
Sometimes to do more you have to start with less. At least that’s Dallara’s theory when it comes to the new track-only EXP based on the Stradale street car. Weighing just 1962 pounds and pushing 492 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque from a Ford-derived 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the...

F1 Teams Less Willing To Tell On Each Other Over Radio Now That Everyone Can Hear Them
Up until this season Formula 1 fans weren’t privy to radio communications between teams and race control — only chat between drivers and their personnel on the pit wall. Radio has become such a staple of the F1 broadcast experience that opening up the line to the FIA and...
