Racing is harder than it looks, and not even some of the best racing movies get it right. That’s why it’s handy we have drivers like out here to give us the what’s-what on some of film’s best racing scenes. And for those of you wondering where Baby Driver was in —it’s here.

Ricciardo, like most pro racing drivers, has been doing this his whole life. If there’s anyone qualified, it’s him, the world’s fastest Dale Earnhardt fan. (He’s also a current Renault and former Red Bull Racing driver.) If you’ve ever wanted an analysis of the IndyCar classic Driven or the iconic Talladega Nights, you can find it below:

I love these kinds of videos almost as much as I love Daniel Ricciardo’s eternal bubbly energy. He does a great job talking about racing generally, even things like stock car racing that he hasn’t done professionally. It’s pretty great.

Ricciardo breaks down less the driving techniques and more the feasibility of the whole thing. Do drivers really talk to their crew chiefs as much as Tom Cruise does in Days of Thunder? Would Will Ferrell have a reason to strip down to his skivvies and run onto the track?

I have to say that the breakdown of Driven is probably my favorite, if only for the fact that we get a lovely story about Ricciardo almost peeing his pants at the movie theater when he saw it the first time.

Mini Vintage Racing is the Best Spectator Sport
Mini Vintage Racing is the Best Spectator Sport
If you’ve ever been in one of these old Minis, you know just quite how small and tinny they are. By dint of dimension, basically as wide as it is long, with the wheels pushed to the edges of the car, it is quite a competent racing car. Sure,...

Track Sweeper Rolls During Intense Race at Barber Motorsports Park
What happens when you put two track sweepers on Barber Motorsports Park together during IndyCar’s race weekend? Apparently, just as much drama as you’d expect from the open-wheel series itself. Two track sweepers were out clearing the track between the Formula 3 and Mazda MX-5 Cup sessions at Barber Motorsports...

I Have Witnessed Glory, And Its Name Is David Coulthard
Perhaps one of the most underrated drivers of his day, David Coulthard was perhaps my favorite personality on the Formula One grid during his tenure in the seat. His race craft was great to watch, even when Red Bull was among the worst teams on the grid. I read...

Yet Another Two-Time F1 World Champ Is Running a Sports Car Endurance Race
Mika Häkkinen never really retired from racing so much as he started taking longer and longer sabbaticals. This time, he’s making his reappearance behind the wheel of a McLaren 720S GT3as he contests the Suzuka 10 Hours endurance race. It must be pretty nice to be a retired F1...

Every Racing Series Needs a Live Drone Cam Immediately
Formula Drift might not be for everyone, but holy hell do they get a lot of things right that other racing series can’t seem to wrap brains around. I attended last weekend’s Long Beach season-opening round and I was absolutely astonished by the incredible ways FD is adapting existing technology...
