Weekend Motorsports Roundup, April 30-May 1, 2016-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:32

Welcome to the Jalopnik , where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

Welcome to the weekend, everyone. You survived the work week, and luckily, there is a huge lineup of motorsports events to reward you for that over the next two days.

As is obvious from the photo above, NASCAR will be at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. High speeds, restrictor plates and an overall crapshoot of a finish make this one of the most interesting—and nerve racking, at times—venues on the NASCAR circuit. Both the Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series will race there this weekend, and perhaps we’ll see for the second time this year. Yes, that has only happened once thus far.

Formula One is back this weekend as well, and they’ll be at Sochi Autodrom for the Russiant Grand Prix. For those on this side of the world, it’ll be a fairly early wakeup call for the race on Sunday. If you need a refresher on how the season is going, defending champion Lewis Hamilton has somehow not won a race so far—the first three events of the season were all Nico Rosberg.

Other live events for the weekend include Monster Energy Supercross, NHRA, MotoAmerica, the Superbike World Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Coverage for both MotoAmerica and the Superbike World Championship is on , and the schedules below are from the website.

There’s plenty of entertainment in the tape-delayed lineup as well, with several showings of Stadium Super Trucks events on the schedule. In addition to those, you can also catch events from the V8 Supercars, Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, American Sprint Car Series, Red Bull X Fighters, AMSOIL Arenacross, Lucas Oil Modified Series, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Monster Jam, FIA World Rally Championship, Red Bull Air Race, Pirelli World Challenge and the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series.

If you know of any other events or live streams going on this weekend, please feel free to share in the comments below.

When I congratulated 55-year-old Janine Shoffner on her Nürburgring Endurance Series championship in the SP9 AM class, she held up a finger and smiled. She amended, “It’s implausible that anyone can beat us now, but we can’t say that we’ve won it because they haven’t given us the big...

Colin Chapman: The Man and His Cars Delves Into One Of F1's Engineering Geniuses
Motorsport history will remember Colin Chapman as an innovator, but I think it’s safe to say that, after the man’s early death, the small details of his personality and business practices have fallen by the wayside, eclipsed by his introduction of aerodynamic wings, his two-chassis F1 car, and ground...
