Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Dec. 13-14, 2014
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Dec. 13-14, 2014-July 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:47

Welcome to the Jalopnik , where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

There's three big things happening this weekend: the , the Gulf 12 Hours, and the Formula E Punta del Este ePrix.

The Race of Champions this year has a slightly underwhelming entry list this year, with names like…

Formula E is the only one of those that will actually be televised, so if you're in desperate need of new races to watch that don't have a gimmicky "FanBoost" (urgh), we hope you like live streams.

That's not to knock Formula E, though. This weekend will be Jean-Éric Vergne's with the Andretti Formula E team. Many see this as his possible way over into IndyCar, another series Andretti does. Either way, it's good to see one of Formula One's seat-less drivers land on their feet somewhere, particularly after Vergne was unceremoniously cut from the Toro Rosso squad.

If you know about anything we missed, or about good livestreams out there, let us know in the comments below.

Dale Jr. Somehow Off-Roaded His Way Through The Big One At Talladega
Today’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega gave everybody what we all expected: the big one. A 17-car crash piled up behind the top few leaders on lap 172 of 188, red flagging the race for a massive cleanup. Martin Truex Jr.’s No. 78 tried to make it...

IndyCar Scares The Shit Out Of Jenson Button But Formula E Is Boring
If there’s one driver that has been missed in Formula One, it’s certainly 2009 world champion Jenson Button. Button isn’t done with racing yet, but won’t be making a full-time return to F1. Now he’s named two other series he won’t be trying in F1's place: Formula E and IndyCar,...

World's Most Insane Figure-Eight Racing Fight Ends With A Dude Getting Tased
It’s impossible to determine the craziest part of this figure-eight racing fight from Anderson Speedway in Indiana. Here’s What It’s Like To Break The Sound Barrier In A Dang Car
It’s been 20 years since the made its record-breaking speed run, becoming the only car to ever travel faster than the speed of sound. Yet as its driver explains, it wasn’t as simple as mashing the go-pedal and having its two enormous Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines blast him into the...

Talladega NASCAR Race Stopped Three Times In 28 Laps For Big Crashes
It’s official: Talladega’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race is insane this year after a relatively tame start. A third red flag of the night came out after Chase Elliott tried to take advantage of a hole that quickly disappeared at the front of the field, making a big ol’ mess....
