Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Feb. 14-15, 2015
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, Feb. 14-15, 2015-September 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:45

Welcome to the Jalopnik , where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

NASCAR RETURNS. The behemoth has awoken from a cold and unforgiving winter, and once again shall terrorize television schedules everywhere. The weekend kicks off with the ultra-short 75-lap Sprint Unlimited exhibition race among the top 25 drivers in the sport, and ends with qualifying for the Daytona 500 that takes place next weekend.

I say "top 25" to keep it simple, but A.J. Allmendinger, Brian Vickers, Brian Scott and David Gilliland opted not to participate. The original invitees came from last year's pole sitters, Chase for the Sprint Cup participants, former Sprint Unlimited winners, and former Daytona 500 pole-sitters. After all of those drivers had a spot, they just went down the standings from last year to pick who fills in the last few spots.

Clint Bowyer, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Paul Menard and Casey Mears filled out the four spots that weren't taken. Check out the full entry list .

Prefer squggly lines over ovals? The World Rally Championship heads to Sweden this weekend. Rally Sweden is a hot, er, uh,, and this second round of the WRC is certain to be fantastic.

This is impossibly sweet.

What else is new for this weekend? AMA Supercross, of course. We've got the next round of two-wheeled fun on this Saturday night.

If you know about anything we missed, or about good livestreams out there, let us know in the comments below.
