Weekend Motorsports Roundup, July 23-24, 2016
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, July 23-24, 2016-June 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:30

Welcome to the Jalopnik , where we let you know what’s going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

After a staggeringly long eight months as a retired NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon is back! What a weekend to be alive! The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series will be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the weekend, which, despite history, tends to make for a long and boring weekend. The Sprint Cup race name is also historically long—a race that’s typically known as the “Brickyard 400” has morphed into names like the “Crown Royal Presents The Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard” over the years. It’s listed as the former below.

Formula One is in Hungary for the weekend, and the drama just keeps coming over there—after radio controversy at the British Grand Prix and a penalty for Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg, F1 cracked down on radio regulations. If a driver hears of a critical problem on his or her car from now on, they’ll have to duck down pit road to check it out. Sebastian Vettel

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge are at Lime Rock Park, and they’ll both be on live this weekend—the WeatherTech race will be on television and on , and the Continental Tire race will be on the latter as well.

In addition to those, the FIA World Endurance Championship is at a collective favorite—the Nürburgring—and NHRA is in Colorado. The Super GT race from Japan streams on Sunday, and its links and broadcast times are below.

There’s plenty of tape-delayed coverage for you, too. If you know of any other events or live streams going on over the weekend, feel free to let us know in the comments below.

Rally Co-Driver Forced To Give Awkward Pointy Directions With His Hands

When A Race Gets So Intense That You Don't Even Need To See
When A Race Gets So Intense That You Don't Even Need To See
Desert racing is insane: fact. Juggling the insanity of keeping your bucking bronco of a race truck moving forward while constantly having to wipe sand off your helmet takes it to another level. Rally fans thought it was odd enough when Kris Meeke caught up to Citroën teammate Craig Breen’s...
