America is a huge domestic market. Much as we produce a lot of corn for our own consumption, we also produce a lot of racing just to be enjoyed by Americans. But there is (and has been) a lot of very important international events held here.

For a time, you could argue, when the most important and prestigious car race in the world was held in the United States, attracting interest and talent the world over.

That was a long time ago, but even a few years ago we had top-class Le Mans prototypes racing here in the States, attracting international attention. There’s an Audi R10 dipping a toe into the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca during an ALMS race in 2006.

Which race held in America, from whatever era in the history of motorized transport, do you think was the most important on the world stage?
