Why We Love The Original McLaren F1 So Very Much
Why We Love The Original McLaren F1 So Very Much-September 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:30

Part of the reason why we all love the original so much, and so much more than so many other automobiles to hold the ‘fastest car in the world’ title has nothing to do with the 1990s legend’s speed, or cost, or rarity. It’s that the thing proved itself on the racetrack.

There was no real need for McLaren to take the F1 racing. It was designed for use on the road; there it was enormously good at its job.

But people took it racing anyway, and came away with victory after victory, even overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

McLaren is currently publishing a bunch of videos of the F1 GTR’s success in 1996, winning the top global sports car championship at the time.

Bring back GT1.
