The Most American Rally Team Ever Is Not From America
The Most American Rally Team Ever Is Not From America-January 2024
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:36

Austria’s Dead Panda Team doesn’t just eat in the car (gasp!), but they eat in the car at speed. With videos of the dynamic duo eating, goofing around and, well, spraying some air freshener after they eat, they’ve managed to out-America most American rally teams with a burger and some chips.

Check out this clip of the driver downing a cheeseburger on a stage. This is a man who’s mastered the art of eating and driving far better than I ever will, and I’m native to the good ol’ U. S. of A., dagnabbit. If that’s not enough to grant these two honorary dual citizenship in America, I don’t know what is.

There’s quite a few outtakes of the driver and codriver’s shenanigans in the car on their , too.

Unfortuately, the codriver made quite the mess opening up a bag of chips during the Südliche Holledau Rallye. So, he whipped out a vacuum and started cleaning out the mess. Codrivers, man—they’ve always got to make the rest of us look like a bunch of disorganized slobs, I guess.

On top of that, apparently it was a bit smelly in the car after they ate their greasy snacks. I know rally teams have to be prepared out on stage, but this is the first time I’ve seen a codriver whip out some air freshener to cover up any farty dude stench that may accumulate in the car.

Here we see the codriver enjoying some fine American literature (read: boobies) during some of his downtime during the Baron von Aretin Rallye.

I’ve found our brothers from a foreign mother, folks, and they are wonderful.

The New Prius Race Car Sounds More Like a Corvette Than the New Corvette
Last night we got to hear the race version of the upcoming mid-engine ’Vette, thepounding around Sebring in testing. It sounds like any number of flat plane crank V8 race cars, from Ferrari and on. Meanwhile, Toyota went testing in its new Prius race car with its own new V8...

’s cockpit-protection bar did its job this year, and made viewers at least once. But in the ugly August wreck involving Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso, an investigation found that the halo protected Leclerc from a smack in the visor by the front of Alonso’s car. reported on the investigation...

Formula E Will Now Have an 'Attack Mode' Button That Gives Drivers Temporary Power Boosts
When the all-electric racing series’ new season starts up this month, drivers will have something extra on their steering wheels: a turquoise “Attack Mode” button that gives a power boost to pass someone or maintain a lead. But, like all passing aids in racing, there are some rules around it....

Here's the Mid-Engine Corvette Race Car Shooting Flames
The bellowing thunder of past Corvette racers is gone, replaced with a more modern roar. This is the unexpectedly caught during testing in Florida. I have no idea how the uploader of this video, a Lanky Turtle, got access to Sebring to see this thing go, but good work getting...

The New Le Mans Prototype Rule Book Looks More Like Spec Racer Than Premier Class
LMP1 as we know it is dead. It lived a good long life, dominated largely by Audi’s series of alphanumeric Le Mans champions. The Audi vs. Peugeot seasons were great, then the Audi vs. Toyota vs. Porsche era exploded and collapsed faster than ever thought possible. There were certainly outside...

Building the NASCAR-Powered Lexus LFA Drift Car Wasn't Easy
One of the coolest builds of recent years is Yoichi Imamura’s . We saw it test and run a few events back in 2015 and 2016, though it never became the guy’s main car. Now we have a better idea of why: This thing was as expensive as you’d think...
