A new Alfa Romeo SUV with a new engine range is said to be on the way, and will act as a rival against the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
According to a report by Auto Express, Alfa Romeo is planning to launch eight new models by 2018. These models will include two new SUVs which will be based on Alfas all-new rear/four-wheel-drive architecture, reported to offer 50:50 weight distribution.
Taking inspiration from the Kamal concept shown at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, the range-topping version of the SUV is said to be powered by a turbocharged petrol V6 unit producing up to 373 kW, while a diesel version will deliver 261 kW of power. Rumours also suggest that these powerful Alfa models could get engines developed by Ferrari, while the engine line-up is also said to include newly developed four- and six-cylinder units.
There are also reports that towards the end of 2015 Alfa will introduce a 3-Series rival called Giulia, and will be followed by a larger model to go up against the 5-Series.
