Lewis Hamilton seems to have monumentally bad luck with the tires on his Mercedes Formula One car lately. He went out on intermediates (as opposed to full wet tires) on a completely inundated Montreal track during Free Practice 2 and predictably hydroplaned into a wall. Oops.
“Unfortunately the conditions worsened quicker than we had anticipated and the conditions caught Lewis out in an unfortunate manner,” explained Mercedes executive director Paddy Lowe in a post-practice. “But we’ll get it sorted for tomorrow, it should be all fine.”
Fortunately, Lewis was unharmed in the smack, but the car swung back and forth on the recovery crane, causing slight damage to the rear. They should be able to get back out for Free Practice 3 this morning.
