In response to the right after he , F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone apparently didn’t have the highest praise for him—Ecclestone reportedly called Rosberg “a world champion and nothing else.” But, Bernie, what if he is something else?

The retirement means Rosberg’s first F1 title will likely be his last. As reported by the , , and other outlets, Ecclestone had this to say about Rosberg following his exit from the sport:

“Well, let’s just say he is a world champion,” Ecclestone said.

“The other names that you mentioned (Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso) have obviously won more than a few times and have achieved more. So I would just call Nico a world champion and nothing else.”

“A world champion and nothing else.” Hmph. What if he’s a dog lover, Bernie? A fan of cooking? A student who graduated with high honors? A husband who always buys flowers? A volunteer at his local charity?

What if he likes long walks on the beach, or prefers summer hiking to a ski trip? How about what kind of books he likes, or if he’s more of a movie person? How about all of the honors and trophies he may have? For all you know, Bernie, he could have been champion of a local bowling league before becoming your F1 world champion.

There is value beyond F1, Bernie.
