Weekend Motorsports Roundup, December 7-8, 2013
Weekend Motorsports Roundup, December 7-8, 2013
2024-02-19 EST 22:11:50

Welcome to the Jalopnik Weekend Motorsports Roundup, where we let you know what's going on in the world of racing, where you can see it, and where you can talk about it all in one convenient place. Where else would you want to spend your weekend?

This weekend brings us a torrent of cold, rain, snow, wind, and a mix of all sorts of terrible winter weather. Perfect conditions, in my mind, for a bit of slippy-slidey racing. I think this is why they keep turning down my application for the presidency of the FIA (Bernie, call me!), as there's not much racing going on this weekend.

So it's a bit of a choose-your-own-adventure, at least when it comes to things that are live and on television. Not that the repeats are bad, what with a little bit of rally and whatnot. But somehow, it's just not the same. It's all a bit near-beer. So help a fellow racing-obsessed nut out, and let us know if you've got a stream of some sort of motorsports, somewhere around the world. I know there's at least one Australian V8 Supercars race, so help a Jalop out!

We know there's been a few site changes recently, so in the interests of comfort and familiarity we'll be keeping the races in the body of the posts. Of course, please use our image annotation tool on the map above to show us races we might have missed, where they're being held, and where we can livestream them.

24 Hours Of Daytona Has Real, Live Attack Ads That Won't Let Go Of Your Car
SCOTTSHARP.mp4 This a trackside ad has been hit by one of IMSA’s low-slung racing prototypes and then refuses to let go. They’re tenacious little things! It never ceases to be hilarious, either. The 24 Hours of Daytona’s corporate overlords received extra exposure today, thanks to Scott Sharp’s off-track excursion in...

How Do The Drivers Survive A 24-Hour Race?
How Do The Drivers Survive A 24-Hour Race?
We’ve given glorious, (the best kind!) on how to stay up for an entire 24-hour race before, but that’s not necessarily the best plan for everyone—especially the drivers. How do they survive these long, grueling weekends? We asked Corvette Racing’s Mike Rockenfeller how he copes. Rockenfeller, who won both the...

Feel This Audi Driver's Terror Through The Screen At This Rainy Daytona Spin
You know what view I wouldn’t like to see? The side of a Porsche 911 GT3 R spinning in front of me. This is how wet it was before tonight’s 24 Hours of Daytona got even wetter and was yellow-flagged for heavy rain. An Audi coming down the track just...

This Insane Hillclimb Is Full Of More Utterly Unbelievably Cool Vehicles Than You Can Imagine
Certainly, I can imagine a lot, but when you have Formula cars, drift cars, and home-built race tractors, you’ve really stretched the bounds of my brain. Seriously, like every single kind of car a person could be interested in is represented, from a high-revving Honda grip car, to a Peugeot...

Watch A Race Car Driver Almost Get Hit In The Head By His Car's Own Nose
Incidents where your hood flies up in a regular car are iffy enough, but at least there’s usually a windshield or a roll bar separating that hood from your head. Here’s a special kind of Code Brown: Defcon 5000—the nose flying up off of an open-cockpit Prototype Challenge car at...

'Please Stop Hitting Things Pink' Car Ends Annoyingly Long Yellow Flag With A Bang
The embattled No. 8 Starworks Motorsport Prototype Challenge car, whose color was deemed “Please Don’t Hit Me Pink” by owner Peter Baron to , crashed again. However, it hasn’t been hit so much as it’s done the hitting. Most recently, it ate a barrier under a yellow flag, where traffic...
